Pendleton Past and Present

What we have found

Our volunteers have been fieldwalking around Pendleton and so far, along with blisters and sunburn, we have found some interesting objects.

Here are some prehistoric flints that we have found. These are all types of tool. Along the top are a row of flint blades. Along the bottom are a row of thumb nail scrapers. The thumb nail scraper is the sort of tool that would have been used in the Early Bronze Age. They are therefore the same age as the burials excavated in Pendleton. Who knows, they may have been used by the people who buried their dead, or were even buried in Pendleton.
